Living has become a constantly hurrying and harrying endeavor, and one has no choice but to simply keep up. Indeed there is no other way than to cope with the stresses of life. And there are many ways of coping- good and bad. There are those who would resort to smoking and drinking, or even drugs. Others would exercise, have an active social life or engage in activities to unwind. Then there is yet the spiritual path to cope with stress- yoga and daily meditation and the like. Many people regard meditation as something so complex and what spiritual adepts only do.
But in fact, it doesn't have to be so. Take the case of the daily meditation practice. This can be done while one is simply walking! Yes, it is definitely possible. When one is in their state of sensitivity and awareness while walking, they can meditate as well. Thus, they are meditating. Quite as simple as that. For beginners, they are faced with the dilemma of choices when it comes to this spiritual practice. They might well ask if they should do daily meditation. Or what technique they would use and where they would practice it. A special room maybe, or in which conducive setting.
For beginners though, what would be more helpful is guided meditation. There are tools which can help them in their spiritual journey, like CD's and music. Beginners need aid for the mean time as they embark on the quest of keeping in touch with the self. Yes, that's what daily meditation can do. It's little by little taking steps to connect with the divine. And what is divine may not be so much on the outside, but within oneself. It just takes time, effort, will and the desire to discover what is sacred. The spirit is the human being's essence.
When the spirit fortified, it can be unbroken. This essence could be a resolute force to weather the storms of life. And how can the spirit become strong? Through constant practice and nourishment, in the same way as the physical body. How is the spirit harnessed and nourished? Through reflection, meditation, reaching out to others, doing good deeds and self-realization. These would help for one's spiritual growth. Meditating is more like an exploration or an experimentation. One searches deeper and looks for answers. And these answers, they would lead to enlightenment. And enlightenment, this could pave the way for bliss.
This could be achieved when one is patient, when they take time to nourish the spirit by meditating daily. It is a colorful, sacred world- the world of the inner self. And it could be explored and discovered when one regularly meditates. In its most simple sense, a spiritual practice is all about keeping the self strong. And this is what everybody needs as the stresses of life can be so compelling. They can drive one to despair and out of their wits. One must always have a strong defense. This is often not in the physical sense, but for those aspects of the self which are unseen.
