Without Goals, You Are Just Dreaming

So many folks never reach their full potential and indeed they have the same dreams as so many others like them. Why is it that one individual reaches their dreams and seizes opportunity, while another fails miserably or perhaps never even gets to square one? What is the difference between those who achieve and those who merely dream? Well, I believe the difference is that dreamers wish for fame, fortune and/or happiness and achievers set goals, quarterly objectives and have a sincere and well documented strategic plan.

That is to say they set goals; they have a plan and not only a dream. Remember that Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. stated he had a dream, he did not say that he had a strategic plan with specific intermediate goals and objectives that he expected to meet on a timely basis. Still, to this day his dream has not been completely fulfilled.

Would history have been different if he had said; "I have a goal and a strategic plan that will meet all your dreams and expectations!"We will never know, but I just bet, things might have been different in the day. Why do I mention this? Not because I am a black-America, for I happen to be white, rather because it is my contention that if you think about these challenges in your own life, maybe you can turn your dreams into a reality, simply by converting these dreams into goals.

Do yourself a favor and write down all your dreams on a piece of paper on the left side with a line down the center. On the right side write down all the things that must happen to find these dreams realized. Then take another piece of paper and write down all the events that must occur on one side and all the things that must be done to insure those things happen. Then write down a plan and a timeline to see this through and now you have turned your dreams into goals, which is a worthy cause for you.
